Fellowships

FELLOWSHIPS 2016-2017

There are excellent fellowship opportunities for students accepted to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate programme  in “Law, Science and Technology”.

The Erasmus Mundus now enters in the Erasmus+ Program just approved (see the here for more information).

Erasmus+ “Programme countries” includes the 28 EU Member States, the EEA/EFTA countries and Turkey, FYROM.

Please note that Turkey, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway entered the Erasmus+ Programme as “Programme countries”, therefore scholarship applicants who are nationals of these countries should be considered only for a Programme Country fellowship.

These  fellowships, divided between category A (Partner Countries) and category B (Programme Countries)  candidates, will be given to the highest ranked PhD candidates during the study period which lasts three years.

CATEGORY

We consider the following two categories:

***Category A or Partner Country candidate
Partner Country scholarships can only be awarded to candidates who are nationals of and/or residents in an Erasmus+ Partner country and who have not carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years (until 27 February 2015) in one of the Programme Countries. The 12-month residency rule should not apply to the student candidates who for various reasons and under various circumstances have sought refuge and received a refugee status in a Programme Country and also to former EMMC scholarship holders.

***Category B or Programme Country candidate
fellowships can be awarded to any doctoral candidate selected by EMJD consortium and who do not fulfil the Category A criteria defined above.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The approximate number of PhD scholarships that EM LAST-JD offers for the 2016 admission period is not yet announced by EACEA. Please check frequently this page:

  • 5 scholarships category A
  • 1 scholarships category B

Only candidates who have applied to and have been accepted by the EM LAST-JD consortium, in accordance with its specific students’ application and selection criteria, are eligible for a scholarship. Both category A and B students are welcome to apply to the EM LAST-JD PhD programme.

Because the competition for Fellowships is high, we also strongly encourage you to identify other sources of funding (external funding) through your own local, national or regional scholarship/grant-finder web sites. Examples include Scholarshipportal.eu, Scholarships-Links.com, www.scholarshipnet.info, etc.

AMOUNT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

The PhD Candidate will receive a grant to cover the participation costs, living, travel and installation allowance, as follows:

Category A

Category B

Participation costs €  300/month € 300/month
Living allowance €  2.800/monthgross sum € 2.800/monthgross sum
Travel allowance – Installation €  7.500 € 3.000if there is mobility foreseen to third-country full/associated partners
Total grant (36 months) € 119.100 € 114.600

While the grant for installation, travel and living allowance will be transferred to a candidate’s European bank account, the participation costs will be paid by the European Commission directly to the Consortium. This means that € 10.800 (€ 300 x 36 months) will not be transferred to the candidate’s bank account but will instead be used to cover the monthly participation costs (e.g. enrolment cost, training cost, diploma cost, general service costs, linguistic courses costs, etc.).

The grant will cover 36 months.
